I need ideas for a back splash in my kitchen. I have black granite counters and back splash with white walls.?

I would like to do something between the top of the 4 inch backsplash and the cherry cupboards. I have multiple plug outlets and a galley kitchen with a hooded island. My accents are red and clay (canasters)., the appliances are stainless and black. I have thought about adding a row of tiles above the backsplash but I never see any pictures out there with this idea. Would this be too much?
