How can I get my 10 month old to drink out of a regular sippie cup?

my 10 month old daughter has been on sippie cups for a few months now and she can only suck from the soft spout cups. She is now to the point where within a week she bites through them and they leak. So I was wondering if anyone knows how i can get her to drink from the regular hard tip sippie cups. I have some of those and when i get them to her she tries but she looks funny at me and she throws it down. I have tried numerous times with her and I tell her to suck on it but for some reason she wont suck on it. I feel like she dont know what it is. As a baby too I had to always use fast flow because she wouldnt suck enought to get any formula out of the bottle.
