How do i find the security key to connect to the internet?

my grandpa is down visiting and we want to connect his laptop but we don't know where to find the security key. (if it makes any difference CISCO is our router model). we tried just pressing the connect on on the router but that didn't work and now it'll only let us out in the security key.
